Happy Halloween to all trick or treaters.

The website has been officially live for one week now and I'm overwhelmed with the incredible positive support and response from everyone.  Thank you so much for the encouragement and wonderful support.  You all ROCK!
The next steps are to get park links, upcoming races and more pictures on the website,  The apparel page will be up and running by the end of November so you all can order T-shirts and other items.  I also updated the Helpful Links page with another link for Picket Fences, a divorce recovery website.

With the upcoming time change we've had to find other places to walk on our week nights.  We have found the Michigan State University Jenison Fieldhouse is open Mon-Thurs 5-8 to the public so we'll start walking there during the week.  We'll walk in the outdoors parks until the cold Michigan weather and wind drives us to find another weekend indoor track.

Someone sent me an email and asked how to start a daytime walk club.  My recommendation is to just find one other person who'll commit to walking with you, send me the schedule and I'll post it.  Voila - you have a daytime walking club.  Its just that easy.  I wish this walker in the Holt area much luck and support.

Our next race is the TurkeyMan Trot on Thanksgiving morning.  The race is in East Lansing and a number of us who don't have to cook the turkey this year are getting up bright and early to walk or run in this 5k.  Wish us luck.

Please comment or send me an email with any questions.  I love to hear from you and I promise I'll answer within 24 hours.

Thank you again for such great support.  My affection to all of you!

Welcome to the Chick Chain Walking Club weekly blog.  I hope you'll find time to comment.  We started this website and blog with the goal of inspiring other women locally and nationally to realize that you don't have to be a trained athlete to get up and move, join an exercise club, feel supported by others and accomplish things you may have only dreamed about.  You CAN do it and it is so much easier when you're accountable to someone.  We had people show up to walk not feeling well, grumpy after a hard day at work, or some even showed up for the walk a bit under the weather after being "over served" adult beverages.  Being accountable to our friends made us walk when we didn't feel like it, when we whined, laughed, cried, tripped on sidewalks, sweated, and brought even more friends to the group.

I'm a fifty-four year old woman who found my passion for walking through this group.  I have lost a few pounds, toned my body and developed incredible friendships and support.  I wish this for you.  Please contact me at McCowan@chickchainwalkingclub.com with any questions, ideas, suggestions or just general comments.  I welcome them all.
